Fast-Paced 4X Strategy with Lite Roguelike Mechanics

Core Gameplay Loop

Turn Structure

Each turn consists of two primary phases for both players (Human and AI). Players take turns in sequence, with each turn's actions affecting the game state.

Phase 1 - Resource Collection

Resources are automatically collected at the start of your turn:

  • Base production: 1 resource per controlled hex
  • Building bonuses (+2 for matching resource buildings):
  • Markets provide bonus only on gold resource hexes
  • Farms provide bonus only on food resource hexes

Dynasty trait bonuses:

  • Merchant Blood: +25% gold production
  • Fertile Lands: +25% food production

Phase 2 - Actions

Players can perform the following actions:

1. Build Constructions (Click & hold on any owned hex)

  • Barracks (10 gold): Creates 1 new military unit per turn
  • Market (5 gold): +2 gold production on gold hexes
  • Farm (5 gold): +2 food production on food hexes

2. Influence Actions (Right-click any hex)

  • Bribe Territory (10 influence, 2 hex range): Convert neutral hex
  • Incite Revolt (8 influence, 6 hex range): Reduce enemy units by 1
  • Diplomatic Pressure (14 influence, 4 hex range): Block enemy movement for 6 turns

3. Move ONE Unit per TURN  (ends turn!)

  • Select one hex with your units
  • Move to empty hex for expansion (base range: 1 hex)
  • Attack enemy hex for combat
  • Merge with friendly units
  • Relocate to empty friendly hex

Combat System

Combat automatically considers:

  • Unit numbers (base strength)
  • Warrior Culture trait (+1 combat strength if owned)
  • Diplomatic Pressure (unit cannot move/attack)

Resource Management

Upkeep Costs (Automatic End of Turn)

Hex Maintenance:

  • 1.5 food per 3 hexes
  • 1 gold per hex with building

Unit Maintenance:

  • 1 food per 2 units
  • 1 gold per 3 units

Bankruptcy Consequences

If unable to pay upkeep:

  • Food shortage: Units desert (lose 1 unit per hex, minimum 1 unit remains)
  • Gold shortage: 25% chance per building to collapse

Dynasty System

Legacy Points

Points are awarded based on:

  • winner gets 50.000 points
  • looser gets 25.000 points

Dynasty Traits

Traits are unlocked at different legacy point thresholds:

Tier 1 Traits (100,000 Legacy Points)

  • Merchant Blood: Gold production increased by 25%
  • Fertile Lands: Food production increased by 25%
  • Warrior Culture: Units gain +1 strength in combat

Tier 2 Traits (250,000 Legacy Points)

  • Nomadic Roots: Units can move two hexes

Note: AI player has access to all traits regardless of legacy progress.

Tier 2 Traits (500,000 Legacy Points)

  • NOT YET IMPLEMENTED!!

Victory Conditions

The game ends when:

  • One player loses all territory
  • Winner is determined by territorial control

User Interface

Controls

  • Left-click: Select units, perform actions
  • Right-click: Open influence action menu
  • Click & hold: Open building menu
  • Skip button: End turn without action

Visual Indicators

  • Blue territory/units: Player 1 (Human)
  • Red territory/units: Player 2 (AI)

Resource icons: 

  • F: Food
  • G: Gold
  • I: Influence

Building icons:

  • F: Farm
  • M: Market
  • B: Barracks
  • Effect indicators show remaining duration and type

Tips

  • Balance resource production early game
  • Use influence actions to support military strategy
  • Consider upkeep costs when expanding
  • Position buildings on matching resource hexes
  • Use diplomatic pressure to protect vulnerable borders
  • Merge units for stronger combat forces
